A special version of the XMC-E machine control software is used on all Die Maker machines. This is designed to allow fast and easy setup of jobs using preset settings for all common applications. It also however provides outstanding flexibility for those operators who like to have total control over how the machine will cut a job.

A full 3D graphical interface with interactive rotate, pan and zoom always shows the original job design and also the machine cutter paths for easy visual verification before the job is cut.

When jobs are loaded, which can be in dxf, cf2 or plt formats, the software automatically picks up the layers in the design and then applies the appropriate cutting parameters, eg: which tool, cutting speed, offset, depth of cut, whether to use bend compensation etc.

Some of the special features useful for die making applications include:

  • Tool bend compensation to ‘correct’ errors caused by the bending of the small tools when cutting.

  • Ramp in / out of the material. This reduces tool and spindle wear and helps to avoid movement of small parts, especially the thick D & D foam when they are cut out.

  • Auto Slowdown at end of cut. This allows parts to be cut out at full speed but right at the end of the cut the machine will automatically decelerate to a preset lower speed to reduce the chances of parts moving and spoiling.

  • Double sided machining activated by single button press to automatically flip and locate the job for accurate alignment.
